Delete your Quiet Money account
This page is for the Quiet Money app (Android) and the quietmoneyapp.com website. They share one account. You can delete it yourself in under a minute, or ask us to do it. Deletion is free and you do not have to give a reason.
Three ways to delete
- In the Android app. Open the Account tab, tap Delete account, and enter your password. The account is deleted at once.
- On this page. Sign in, enter your password below, and press Delete my account. The account is deleted at once.
- By email. Write to hi@quietmoneyapp.com from the address your account uses, with the subject “Delete my Quiet Money account”. We delete it by hand within 30 days and reply to confirm. Use this if you cannot sign in.
What is deleted
- Your account: email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), name if you gave one, and plan.
- Your watchlist: every stock you follow.
- Your alert history: the record of which filings we sent you.
- Your devices: the push-notification tokens for phones signed in to the account.
All of it is removed from our database in one step, at the moment you confirm. It cannot be undone, and we keep no copy for later. Database backups held by our hosting provider roll off on their own within 30 days.
What is not deleted, and why
- The Friday email list. If you joined it, that is a separate sign-up stored by email address, not by account. Deleting the account does not remove it. Use the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any of our emails, or ask us by email and we delete the row.
- Subscriptions bought in the Android app. Google Play holds that billing record, not us, and only you can cancel it: Google Play → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancel it before you delete the account, or Google keeps charging.
- Subscriptions bought on the website. We cancel these for you as part of the deletion. Stripe, the payment company, keeps its own invoice records as tax law requires. We never see or store card numbers.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses of requests). They are not linked to your account by us and expire on their own.
